Dine-in not allowed in Betong, businesses and offices to be closed by 7pm

KUCHING, April 26:  Dine-ins in eateries such as restaurants, coffeeshops and stalls are not allowed in Betong where business and office operating hours are now limited to 7pm in the evening.

For all food and beverages businesses, only takeaway, drive-through and delivery is allowed.


Meanwhile, in a stricter measure to control Covid-19 spread in Betong, sports and social activities such as wedding, engagement celebration, reception, prayer meeting, anniversary and birthday celebration, reunion and retreat are prohibited in the division.

Businesses such as reflexology centres, spas and karaoke (including family karaoke) are also not allowed.

According to the new standard operating procedures (SOP) just released by Sarawak Disaster Management Committee, these social activities and businesses are banned until May 17.

Activities allowed in Betong during this Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period are all economic and industrial activities, official duties and activities related to health, emergency and death.

Meanwhile, for businesses that are allowed to carry on, their operating hours as well as those of offices have to be kept between 6am and 7pm.

These are the latest SOPs released by SDMC in view that CMCO in Kuching, Miri, Sibu, Betong, Bintulu, Sarikei and Kapti has been extended to May 17, 2021. — DayakDaily
