KUCHING, Sep 1: Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak Dr Hazland Abang Hipni has met Environment and Water Ministry Minister Dato Mansor Othman over the devolution of environmental authority to Sarawak in phases.
Dr Harland paid a courtesy visit on Mansor at the Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) in Putrajaya on Tuesday (Aug 30) to also discuss environmental management at the federal and State levels, as well as strategic cooperation between the two ministries.
According to a press release, the discussion also included various initiatives and related information about environmental management in Sarawak, such as climate change, economic cycles, carbon markets, and renewable energy, specifically hydro power and renewable energy, such as hydrogen and solar.
The courtesy visit was attended by KASA Environmental Management Division secretary Jamalulail Abu Bakar and officials from the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak.
Dr Hazland and his entourage were then taken on a tour of the Environmental Data Center (EDC), which is located in the Department of Environment (JAS), Wisma Sumber Asli.
JAS officers briefed Dr Hazland on the operation and monitoring of the air, river, marine, water, and land.
Also present were JAS Division of Water and Marine director Rosli Mustafa and Air Division officer Wan Aminordin Wan Kamaruddin. — DayakDaily
