Devastating fire in Miri leaves 13 homeless, including 3 children

MIRI, March 23: A devastating fire on Friday evening has left 13 individuals homeless, including three children.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.


The blaze engulfed their residence—a double-storey house in Lorong 1C, Piasau Jaya 1—leaving them without shelter or belongings.

A team of firefighters from Miri Central and Lopeng fire stations were mobilised to the scene upon receiving an alert call about the incident at 5.25pm.

The firefighters managed to bring the fire under control half an hour later.

The operation concluded at 7.13pm.

The actual cause of the fire is still under investigation and has yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, three houses along Jalan Lutong-Pujut were also destroyed in a fire yesterday (March 22).

According to a report from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre today, three houses were razed to the ground while a fuel storage unit was partially destroyed. A boat was also damaged by the flames.

No casualties were reported in the incident. — DayakDaily
