Next year, he said, Sarawak will see the completion of five bridges—Batang Lupar 2 Bridge, Saribas 2 Bridge, Krian Bridge, Paloh Bridge, and Igan Bridge, while the Batang Rambungan Bridge is slated for completion by 2027.

“There is another mega project nearby—the Batang Paloh Bridge worth RM299.5 million.

“It will connect Pulau Bruit to Tanjung Manis, and then to Sibu and Sarikei, and the communities in the area will enjoy the development that these bridges will bring,” he said.

He said this during his speech at the launching of the Muara Lassa Bridge at Daro, Mukah, today.

Meanwhile, Uggah also said that since 2017, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg had implemented various development projects which included roads and bridges as well as water and electricity supply.

For road projects, he said RM30 billion had been implemented which included the 225km Second Trunk Road worth RM5.5 billion connecting Kuching to Sibu that is 30 per cent completed and expected to finish by 2028.

Also included was the Coastal Road project which is about 896km-long costing RM5.42 billion that will connect Lundu-Sampadi to Miri and is 80 per cent completed and is scheduled for completion by 2027.

For rural areas, he said the water supply grid incurred costs of RM4 billion while the electricity supply scheme costs RM2.4 billion.

As for telecommunication, Sarawak has achieved 89 per cent coverage, while Mukah achieved 85 per cent and Matu Daro 80 per cent. — DayakDaily
