KUCHING, May 27: Sarawak’s continued political stability is due to the absence of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) in the State government, said Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, asserting that DAP’s divisive and polarising nature has remained unchanged over time.

Delivering his ministerial winding-up speech during the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting today, Dr Sim, who is also Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, stressed that while the rest of the world, including Peninsular Malaysia, is mired in uncertainty, division and politicking in 2025, Sarawak remains a beacon of unity and progress.

“We are blessed with political stability under the visionary leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. This is because we do not have DAP in the Sarawak government. They are always divisive, polarising and politicking in disguise as championing for the rakyat,” he said.

He described the behaviour of DAP representatives in the august House over the years as consistent with their nature, saying: “One’s character cannot change. Cannot change, double face, triple face, cannot change.”

Dr Sim also celebrated the unity of Sarawakians, pointing out that despite being last on the MyKad code list as number 13, Sarawakians hold their ‘K’ with pride—symbolic, he said, of Sarawak’s honour and respect.

Highlighting Sarawak’s rapid development and ambitions towards 2030, Dr Sim urged Sarawakians to remain vigilant and united in the face of internal and external threats.

“We must be on high alert for anai-anai (termites) from both within and outside Sarawak, including those inside Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS),” he cautioned, using the metaphor to describe elements that could undermine the State’s unity and progress.

He concluded by reaffirming the need for solidarity among Sarawakians, calling on all to stand together in these critical years ahead to ensure Sarawak’s transformation continues without disruption. — DayakDaily
