KUCHING, March 1: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas has announced the formation of the main working committee for the Sarawak-level Gawai Dayak Celebration 2024, chaired by Minister of Education, Innovations, and Talent Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.
According to him, the Sarawak-level Gawai Dayak Celebration 2024 will be just as grand as the previous edition where the highlight will be the Gawai Dinner on June 22.
“We have chosen the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) as the venue. We will invite our Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi as our guests of honour.
“We will also invite our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and their wives as well,” he said after chairing a meeting to discuss the preparations and details for State-level Gawai Dayak celebration 2024 held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.
Meanwhile, Roland said besides the dinner and the ‘Niti Daun’ procession, other events this year would be the Gawai bazaar and the Gawai Carnival.
He also said that based on feedback that received, the Gawai celebrants want the bazaar to be held this May.
“Our main working committee will meet soon to decide on the venues and the dates for both programmes,” he said. — DayakDaily
