Deputy Premier: Sarawak gov’t can re-enter land in industrial estates if no devt by leaseholders

KUCHING, May 15: The Sarawak government can re-enter land in industrial estates if there is no development done by leaseholders after a certain amount of time has lapsed.

Deputy Premier and Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED) Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan revealed this when presenting his ministerial winding-up speech in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting here today.

“Under the current policy of Sarawak, the Sarawak government can re-enter the land if there is no development after three, five or seven years from the date of issuance of land title or registration of land lease depending on the scale of the development.

“However, the Sarawak government will issue a reminder notice to the leaseholders before taking actions to re-enter the land,” he told the august House.

Meanwhile, he said the application for land in industrial estates developed by the Ministry is subject to evaluation by Industrial Coordination Committee and approval by State Planning Authority.

“All applications must conform to the terms and conditions before they can be considered,” he added. – DayakDaily
