KUCHING, Nov 17: Amendments to the Land Acquisition Act 1960, national forest cover targets, the status of the national forested area for 2022 and Malaysia’s commitment to maintaining forest cover, as well as the National Landscape Policy, were among the matters discussed during the 82nd National Land Council (MTN) meeting held today at the Prime Minister’s Department in Putrajaya.
According to a press release, Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, represented Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the meeting, which tabled five papers for deliberation and three for information and was chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Accompanying Awang Tengah were Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development, Datu Abdullah Julaihi, and the director of the Sarawak Land and Survey Department, Datu Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood.
The meeting was also attended by chief ministers and Menteri Besar representing their respective states, including Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli; Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf Yusoh, and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Utama Aminuddin Harun.
Federal Cabinet ministers present included the Minister of Works, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi; Minister of Economy, Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan; and Minister of Plantation and Commodities, Datuk Seri Johari bin Abdul Ghani. — DayakaDaily
