Deputy Premier, federal minister to collab to boost S’wak’s green investment opportunities

KUCHING, March 25: Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, has met with Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, today at MITI’s office in Kuala Lumpur, to discuss a variety of issues of mutual interest, including promoting Sarawak as the region’s green and renewable energy hub.

According to a press release, Awang Tengah, who is also Minister for International Trade, Industry, and Investment (MINTRED) Sarawak, emphasised the importance of being proactive in attracting the right investment, particularly in new economic areas such as green hydrogen, carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS), and renewable energy as an investment.

“With this, there must be targeted incentives and steadfast policies to facilitate the growth of these industries,” read the press release.

It went on to say that Awang Tengah and Tengku Zafrul agreed to collaborate closely to attract and realise more investment in Sarawak.

Also present at the meeting were MINTRED deputy minister Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh; MINTRED advisor Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, MINTRED permanent secretary Dulkornain Masron; Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) chief executive officer (CEO) Datu Ismawi Ismuni; and InvestSarawak CEO Timothy Ong. — DayakDaily
