Deputy Minister Dr Annuar achieves law degree, tells youth ‘knowledge has no age limit’

KUCHING, July 17: Deputy Minister of Education and Innovation Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee has added another feather to his cap by completing his Law Degree.

Dr Annuar, a cardiologist who will turn 61 this year, shared his accomplishment on social media after receiving an email about his final examination result for a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with Honours from the University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom.

“The purpose I am sharing this good news is to motivate and inspire all young people that there are no age limits when it comes to pursuing knowledge, as long as there is will.

“The sky is the only limit in gaining more knowledge,” he said in encouraging young people to continue seeking knowledge and furthering their educational journeys.

Dr Annuar, who is a three-term Nangka assemblyman, decided to further his studies in law in 2022 after 25 years to enhance his ability to serve his constituents, particularly in legal matters.

He completed the three-year law programme through Brickfields Asia College (BAC) in Kuala Lumpur.

Dr Annuar, from Sibu, graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Malaya in 1988. He then pursued his postgraduate education at St James’s University Hospital, Leeds in UK, earning a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Internal Medicine.

Following his studies in the UK, he returned to Malaysia to continue his medical practice while at the same time pursued his second postgraduate studies in Advance Master in Cardiology at National University of Malaysia (UKM) from 1998 to 2001.

In 2004, Dr Annuar undertook subspecialty advanced training at the renowned Deutsches Herzzentrum Berlin in Germany. An expert in cardiac MRI imaging, he has trained other cardiologists during his tenure at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and Serdang Hospital in Selangor.

Dr Annuar has also served as Deputy Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department from 2016 to 2017 with the portfolio of Science Research and Biotechnology; and as Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research and Deputy Minister of Housing and Public Health from 2017 to 2022. — DayakDaily
