KUCHING, Nov 11: A total of 359 out of 365 Housing Deposit Assistance Scheme (HDAS) applications have been approved to date.
According to a news report from TV Sarawak (TVS), Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Michael Tiang said this involved a total amount of RM3,487,995 cash assistance to home buyers.
“For the year 2022, 56 per cent of HDAS applicants are from the M40 group and 44 per cent are from the B40 group where the application is fairly balanced from both groups.
“However, this year, 78 per cent are applicants from the M40 group while only 22 per cent are from the B40 group,” he told a press conference held after opening ceremony of Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Sheda) Kuching Branch Home and Property Roadshow 2023 yesterday (Nov 10).
Tiang said his ministry also received a request from Sheda to extend HDAS to other housing developers for houses with price below RM300,000.
He also said it is because HDAS assistance is only given to housing developers who are registered with Mutiara Mortgage and Credit only.
“I think this is a good proposal because we really want more Sarawakians to benefit from the initiative.
“Our ministry will hold more in-depth discussions with Sheda and the agencies involved to explore plans and initiatives that can provide more benefits to the people of Sarawak,” he said. — DayakDaily
