MIRI, Dec 4: Incumbent for Telang Usan Dennis Ngau of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) hopes to retain his seat with a bigger majority.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of a seminar with leaders at a leading hotel today, Dennis reminded his constituents not to fall victim to the Opposition’s propaganda.

In the 11th Sarawak Election, Dennis won the seat (Telang Usan) with a narrow margin of 167 votes, defeating Roland Engan from Parti Keadilan Rakyat.

Dennis garnered a total of 3,231 votes, while Roland secured 3,064 votes.

“The Opposition has many techniques to mislead voters, and this includes instigating people on various topics and issues, twisting facts about the government of the day,” he explained.

Dennis, also PBB Telang Usan chairman, added that PBB and other Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties have a proven track record in bringing development projects to Sarawak.

“Every (development) project that we carried out was carefully planned, and that is why it takes time for implementation because we want it to be a long-lasting project,” he pointed out.

Dennis said that as a backbone party in Sarawak, PBB has always prioritised the people.

“Our agenda is always the rakyat,” he said to more than 100 participants during the seminar.

He told them that it is crucial for Telang Usan, Mulu, and Marudi to always be close by the government of the day to ensure undisturbed development.

“We must ensure that these three constituencies are always within the government’s development radar,” he said.

Also present during the seminar were political secretary to chief minister Charles Balan Seling, Senator Susan Chemeria, PBB Telang Usan Woman chief Margaret Nawan, and Dennis’ wife, Debbie Irang. ― DayakDaily
