Demak Laut rep wants JKKKs to improve quality of management to better serve community

KUCHING, April 24: Every Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) needs to improve the quality of its management in order to increase the community’s livelihood in line with the country’s development.

Sarawak Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Hipni said a JKKK is the most important and influential body at the village level.

“Its role is to ensure that the local area is not sidelined from current development and is always protected from any form of threat.

“The JKKK should systematically improve the quality of management to ensure that the village governance system runs in an orderly and quality manner,” he said at the N5 Demak Laut breaking-of-fast ceremony held at Penview Convention Centre (PCC) Kuching along Jalan Bako recently, according to a press release.

At the event, Dr Hazland who is also the Demak Laut assemblyman presented a total of RM450,000 as annual activity funds for 30 JKKKs in his constituency to meet the needs of the local community in carrying out community activities.

“I hope that with the grant that has been given, it can be used fully to benefit the local community,” he added.

The ceremony was attended by about 133 JKKK members and community leaders from Demak Laut. — DayakDaily
