KUCHING, April 24: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) branches and sub-branches throughout Sarawak should recruit more new members, says its deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

He said that way, PBB could remain relevant and continue to be the backbone of the Sarawak government for many years to come.

“When PBB is strong, it can focus on its core business of contributing strongly to Sarawak’s development and progress.

“This is critical as Sarawak aims to be a high-income society by 2030 as envisaged by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg,” he said when officiating at the joint Triennial Delegates Meeting (TDM) of PBB Bukit Begunan and Engkilili in Sri Aman today.

Uggah, who is also Deputy Premier, said the party has the potential to attract many new members as its president is no other than Abang Johari himself.

He said many leaders in PBB are also ministers in the Sarawak and the federal Cabinets.

Meanwhile, Uggah congratulated Senator Susan Chemerai Anding for her appointment as Engkilili branch chief and retired police officer Anthony Abell as Bukit Begunan branch chief. — DayakDaily
