KUCHING, May 1: The constituents of Demak Laut are encouraged to participate in the various activities organised by associations to expand their skill sets.

According to a press release issued today by the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (Meesty) Sarawak, its minister, Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, who is also Demak Laut assemblyman, said by being a member of the association, a person will be trained and exposed to many soft skills by becoming a member of an association.

“For example, they can learn to collaborate because collaboration yields the best results.

“This can also improve organisational management and responsibility skills, as well as provide them with access to the most up-to-date government policy information,” he stated when speaking at the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house organised by Muara Tebas non-governmental organisations (NGOs) here on Sunday night (Apr 30).

He went on to say that participating in association activities would produce more high-quality human resources.

“A person will be groomed as a grassroots leader through active participation in associations.

“Quality human resources can be produced in the villages through hands-on experience and exposure,” he explained.

The event was attended by over 600 people, including residents and NGO members, including representatives of village security and development committees (JKKK), mosque committee members, parent-teacher associations, and the Community Development Department (Kemas). — DayakDaily
