BAU, May 1: Bung Bratak Heritage Centre (BBHC), which still relies on diesel generators, experiences power trips from time to time which does not pose a good impression on its visitors, says its chairman Datuk Peter Minos.

He said Public Works Department built the centre as a project under the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac).

“I thought they would bring electricity through Sesco or Sarawak Energy Berhad, but when the time came to occupy the place, I saw two generators (were provided).

“Sometimes it (electric generator) trips. (It is also) expensive and quite noisy, so it is irritating.

“When the former Sarawak minister (Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong) came here, (it always) trip which is so embarrassing to us.

“Thus, we hope the (Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah) can talk to the Premier (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg) or the minister-in-charge (Sarawak Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Julaihi Narawi) to supply electricity to BBHC,” he said during Bung Bratak Day 2023 held at BBHC here today.

He also mentioned that the electricity supply is essential to BBHC, as it has recorded an increasing number of visitors since 2016.

Following that, Abdul Karim, who officiated the event, said he would assist in bringing the issue up with the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT). — DayakDaily
