KUCHING, Aug 20: Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abg Hipni has distributed food aid to the residents in Kampung Goebilt who are affected by the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) implementation which started on Aug 18.

Kampung Goebilt here is placed under EMCO following a Covid-19 outbreak that was detected in the area.

He also called on all residents of Kampung Goebilt as well as any other villages and longhouses that are under EMCO to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set throughout the implementation.

He said the residents must stay at home and always practice personal hygiene and not leave the house, especially for the children who have yet to be vaccinated because they are susceptible to Covid-19 due to their weak antibodies.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland also urged the local community not to be complacent and take the easy way out against the spread of Covid-19 Delta variant which is spreading throughout Sarawak currently.

“The Delta variant that is spreading in the State now is not the last. It is easily spread through the air and among the local community. As such, everyone must continue to comply with the SOPs set by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the National Security Council (MKN) when going out of their house.

“Apart from that, completing their vaccination dose is also important in order to protect against the severe effects of the Covid-19, especially in categories 3, 4, and 5,” he said when asked to comment on the spread of Delta variants in the State on Thursday (Aug 19).  — DayakDaily
