KAPIT, March 1: 1: A recent site inspection conducted on February 29 for the proposed Kapit bus terminal unveiled that the designated area still remains covered in jungle, with no visible signs of imminent construction.

According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, it has been two years since the decision to build the terminal was made, despite the longstanding operation of the bus services within the area.

Without a dedicated terminal, bus operators are forced to use shop parking lots in Bleteh for passenger pick-ups and drop-offs.

The current area for waiting and disembarking passengers in Bleteh is deemed unsuitable as it lacks basic facilities intended for a bus terminal.

Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, carried out a working visit back in May 2022 which led to the identification of the proposed site for the Kapit bus terminal.

The expedited construction of the proposed Kapit Bus Terminal is crucial to ensuring convenient and comfortable facilities for both bus passengers and operators, especially for those traveling to Kapit. — DayakDaily
