Defence Minister: Preliminary investigation report on helicopter crash to submitted within 14 working days

KUCHING, April 25: The preliminary investigation report from Board of Inquiry on the helicopter crash in Lumut naval base in Perak on April 23 is to submitted within 14 working days.

According to Minister of Defence Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin in a statement dated April 24, the full report is to be submitted in 30 working days.

He also said that the government agreed to distribute initial aid of RM10,000 to each family to ease their burden.

He added, the Ministry of Defense has also established a special fund to make it easier for the public to make financial contributions to the victims’ families.

In the same statement, Mohamed Khaled conveyed the Cabinet members’ condolences to the family members of the victims.

“The government also expresses its sympathy for the loss of ten heroes—national heroes who poured their devotion until the end of their lives,” he said.

On April 23, ten navy personnel were killed after two helicopters crashed at the naval base in Lumut Perak. — DayakDaily
