Dead man found in Rejang River believed to be missing Indonesian

SIBU, Feb 12: The bloated body of an Indonesian who was reported missing on Monday at the new Kapit wharf was recovered in Song this morning.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement today, the Song police received a call at 6.54am informing that a member of the public had found the body of Harry Mahrain, 37, floating in the Rejang River.

The identification of the body was made based on a description of the clothes the deceased was wearing at the time he went missing.


Three firefighters led by Officer Abang Fadzil Abang Marzuki were deployed to the scene. They recovered the body and later handed the remains over to the police for further action.

The search and rescue operation was ended at 8.40am. — DayakDaily
