KUCHING, Sept 30: DayakDaily journalist Wilfred Pilo and five other journalists will be heading to Kota Bharu, Kelantan this weekend to compete in Proton 1 Tank Adventure Challenge grand finale from Oct 5 to 6.
Malaysia automobile company, Proton Holdings Berhad (Proton) announced them the winners of the third leg for the media category after the completion of the most economical fuel consumption challenge using the car company’s latest products – 2019 Proton Iriz, Proton Saga and Proton Pesona.
In the two-days challenge from September 28 to 29, Wilfred had teamed up with Voon Siang Pin of See Hua Daily News to ride in a Proton Pesona where they completed the challenge with an outstanding result of consuming an average 6.35 litre per 100km.
Kuan Thai Far (United Daily News) and Koh Jia Lin (International Times) paired up to drive a Proton Iris where they produced an impressive result of consuming an average of 5.88 litre per 100km.
Chong Kho Lee (MySarawak) and blogger Amadeus Donovan Sim took a Proton Saga and came out with an excellent result of consuming 5.74 litre per 100km to emerge as winners.
In the customer category, Tan Woon Seng and Li Min Wei managed to show an amazing result of consuming an average 5.90 litre per 100km with the Proton Pesona assigned to them.
Hazimi Madini and Nur Sharim Farikh used their Proton Iriz wisely and produced a result of an average 5.49 litre per 100km while Mohd Asfia Kamil and Mariam Sheikh Mohd Eusoff achieved remarkably with an average of 5.82 litre per 100km with their Proton Saga.
Each winning team walked away with prize money of RM1,500 which they received from Proton deputy of market intelligence Salwati Mohd Yusoff and the management team.
The third leg challenge of the Proton 1 Tank Adventure kicked off after a flagged off at Proton service and Sales Centre at Jalan Tun Jugah.
With a full tank of petrol for each car, the participants drove to its first check-up point at Fairy Cave, Bau and then back to the State Stadium, Kuching. The first-day challenge ended at the Sarawak Cultural Village.
On the second day, the participants’ challenge was to drive to Telok Melano and then back to the final check-up point at Proton 4S centre at Kota Samarahan. The overall distance made was more than 400km.
The aim of the event is to show to Proton owners that hey can replicate the fuel economy figures as achieved in Proton 1 Tank Adventure challenge. — DayakDaily
