Day 3 with no Covid-19 deaths, Kuching still registers triple-digit cases

KUCHING, July 30: No Covid-19 related fatalities were reported in Sarawak for the third consecutive day today since July 27, as the State’s death toll remains unchanged at 459.

However, Kuching is still registering triple-digit cases, contributing 191 cases or 42.44 per cent of 450 total new cases in the State.


This is the 18th time in a row that Kuching has led the other districts with the highest number of daily infections since July 13.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said while Kuching reported 191 cases, Samarahan recorded 50, followed by Serian (36), Bintulu (27), Simunjan (26), Saratok (25), Sibu (20), Asajaya (17), Tatau (13), Miri (9), Lundu (9), Kabong (6), Bau (5), Kapit (3), Tebedu (3) and Julau (2).

Meanwhile, Sarikei, Meradong, Betong, Lawas, Daro, Belaga, Subis and Pakan districts recorded one case each.

SDMC also reported that of the total cases, 297 cases were screened after having contact to positive cases, 67 individuals linked to active clusters, 42 from other screenings in health facilities, 41 detected from screening of symptomatic individuals, and three Import B cases involving individuals returning from Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Negeri Sembilan respectively.

On the same day, Sarawak also reported 158 patients had recovered and discharged from hospitals statewide, bringing the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 70,119 or 91.97 per cent.
