KUCHING, June 20: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Sarawak will maintain close relationship and cooperation as component parties of Pakatan Harapan (PH).
A joint press statement issued by DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, PKR Sarawak chairman Larry Sng Wei Shien and Amanah Sarawak chairman Abang Halil Abang Naili said it was among issues discussed when they met on Friday night (June 19).
“We will maintain the close relationship and cooperation amongst the component parties less Bersatu until the leadership issue in Bersatu is clear,” said the statement posted on Chong’s Facebook account today.
Besides that, the three parties also discussed on the Prime Minister candidate issue which also shall not affect their relationship because it is a matter of different opinion and means to achieve the same ultimate aim.
Meanwhile on party-hopping, they condemned any form of party-hopping as that is an act of betrayal of the people’s mandate and it will also undermine the spirit and institution of democracy.
According to the statement, PH Sarawak also will face the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the coming state election as one and they are prepared to work with any credible political party which subscribed to the principles of transparency, good governance and justice for all.
“We will not work with any opportunist party or those “one-election party” as such parties have a high tendency of betraying the voters’ trust after winning some seats,” they said. -DayakDaily
