KUCHING, Dec 7: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chief Chong Chieng Jen has been elected as the chairman of Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak for the 2024-2027 term during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) today.
In a statement, the coalition announced the election of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak chief Roland Engan and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Sarawak chief Abang Halil Naili as deputy chairmen.
With this leadership line-up, PH Sarawak, comprising the three component parties—DAP, PKR, and Amanah—reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing its services to the people of Sarawak.
The coalition pledged to leverage federal ministries and agencies’ resources to better serve Sarawakians.
The coalition also emphasised its role as a constructive Opposition, vowing to provide robust checks and balances against the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government, particularly concerning financial management and expenditures.
During the meeting, PH Sarawak leaders also discussed strategies for the next Sarawak state election, expected to take place in the second half of 2026.
Key appointments in the PH Sarawak leadership include secretary Alan Ling, treasurer Ahmad Nazib Johari, Women chief Violet Yong (Pending assemblywoman), Youth chief Zairy Abdullah, Information chief Tay Wei Wei, and auditor Sim Kiat Leng.
The committee members include Lanang MP Alice Lau, Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii, Chiew Chiu Sing, Daniel Jani, Tailend Munchi, Mohd Zen Peli and Daud Eali. — DayakDaily
