DAP Sarawak asks elected reps with contact with Sarikei MP to observe 14 days’ self-quarantine

KUCHING, March 15: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak urges its elected representatives who had close contact with Sarikei MP Wong Ling Biu to observe a 14-day self-quarantine.

DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen in a press statement emphasised the procedure is in line with the standard operation procedure set by the Ministry of Health to contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).


Chong, who is Stampin MP revealed that he and most of the DAP leaders last came into contact with Wong on March 1 in Kuala Lumpur.

He explained that although the period from March 1 to March 15 fell within 14-day period, they still went for testing for Covid-19 at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) today.

“Though both YB Kelvin Yii (Bandar Kuching MP) and I had no fever, cough or any symptom of the virus infection, but due to the nature of our work, we have had Covid-19 tests done by the SGH this morning.

“The results should be out by tomorrow.

“Meanwhile, we pray for the speedy recovery of YB Wong Ling Biu,” Chong who is Kota Sentosa assemblyman disclosed.

Meanwhile, Wong was confirmed positive for Covid-19 recently. He is currently warded at Sibu Hospital. — DayakDaily
