KUCHING, March 15: Hamidah Hamidi, 42, the mother of four children from Kampung Lidah Tanah, Jalan Bau, is all set to move her family into their new house handed over to them today.

When met by DayakDaily, she and her children were all smiles when Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang officiated at the handing over of the new house, situated just a few metres away from their temporary old house.

“There is no word to express how grateful we are to everyone who has helped us in one way or another. Of course, first and foremost, I would like to thank Lo and the state government for giving us a new home.

“I also want to thank our village chief Hamzah Bujang, Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) and Rela Bt 10 volunteers who have assisted and built this house,” Hamidah said.

The new house built for Hamidah Hamidi and her family at Kampung Lidah Tanah, Jalan Bau.

The new house, built under the Lo’s constituency allocation with the cost of RM15,000, has three bedrooms, a sitting room and a kitchen.

Lo also bought a septic tank, which will be installed and attached to the toilet once that part is completed.

Although the house has no toilet, Hamidah said her husband Ishak Amit, 59, who is a labourer, will slowly buy the material to build it later. — DayakDaily
