DAP needs to reshape, present new vision to appeal to Sarawakians

MIRI, Oct 26: Democratic Action Party (DAP) needs to reshape and present a new vision to appeal to the public in view of the coming Sarawak election due 2021.

Its central executive committee cum political education director Liew Chin Tong, said DAP needs to present a new direction in order to gain public confidence so that the people can see it as an alternative political party in the state.


However, he expressed confidence that the party is prepared to fight in the 12th state election.

“Sarawak election at some point would have to happen and we are prepared to face the election. DAP Sarawak is getting stronger,” he told reporters at DAP political education weekend here today.

About 80 representatives from 19 state DAP branches attended the programme held in conjunction with the party’s convention, which is scheduled to be held on Sunday (Oct 27).

Sarawak DAP chairman and Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen is expected to attend the dinner reception tonight.

On today’s programme, Liew said it aimed to strengthen and enhance the capacity of party leaders.

“Among the highlight topics of discussion are MA63, oil and gas royalty, health and education system, as well as public transportation system,” he added.

DAP international secretary and Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching, Pujut assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon and Senator Alan Ling were present. — DayakDaily
