KUCHING, Feb 8: It is concerning that there has been no progress on the construction of the proposed Petros Multifuel Station located at MJC Pine Square, says Special Assistant to Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii, George Lam.

Lam lamented that the proposed Petros Station had its groundbreaking ceremony back in Nov 23, 2021, by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, right before the 12th Sarawak State Election.

“In a news report, the Petros Multifuel Station here at Batu Kawah was proposed to be completed in the third quarter of 2022. It has been delayed for almost half a year. We can’t see any physical structures here at the proposed build site,” he told reporters when met near the proposed site of the station.

“For your information, the project was also listed in the manifesto by the Batu Kawah assemblyman, Dr Sim Kui Hian,” he added.

“It is duty bound for DAP to act as a constructive Opposition in Sarawak to ensure that there is a check and balance in the regional government’s policy.

“I would like to urge the regional government to be more transparent when embarking on mega projects such as building this Petros Multifuel Station by the state owned Petroleum Sarawak Berhad Company,” he pointed out.

Lam stressed that the government should come out with a clear proposal and timeline to implement mega projects.

“The public deserves to know the truth, and it is duty bound for the government to announce it to the public,” he said. — DayakDaily
