DAP man: ‘Needless to question our MPs’ efforts in doing their jobs for S’wak’

KUCHING, March 13: It is needless to question the efforts of Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen and Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii in doing their job for Sarawak.

This was pointed out by the special assistant to Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, Michael Kong Feng Nian, in a statement.

He cited an example on Jan 17, when Chong had taken the initiative to write a letter requesting fire stations to be set up in Stampin and even personally hand-delivered it to Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming.

“This was done despite no initiative from the local councils to seek the construction of such fire stations,” he said in a statement today.

He added that Chong and Dr Yii are actively pursuing federal funding for Sarawak as Democratic Action Party (DAP) understands its role in bringing betterment to the people.

“What DAP wants is not funding local authorities blindly without any accountability because the fear is that they will use these monies on non-essential items,” he said.

Yesterday (March 12), Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Batu Kitang branch secretary Amy Tnay Li Ping said the Sarawak DAP MPs should apply for more development grants for federal agencies in their constituencies instead of showering blame on fellow Sarawakian MPs in Parliament. — DayakDaily
