KUCHING, April 8: Swift action by the Kuching Water Board (KWB) in repairing a burst pipe at Lorong Ketitir 3 here is not only restoring water supply but also helping reduce non-revenue water (NRW) losses that cost Sarawak millions annually, says Michael Kong Feng Nian.
In a press release, Kong, who is the special assistant to Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen, said the leakage was brought to KWB’s attention immediately after it was flagged by members of the public.
“We are pleased to report that KWB has responded promptly on this matter. Within a short time, they dispatched a team to assess the situation.
“This morning, during my visit to the site, I witnessed KWB personnel actively carrying out replacement works on the damaged water pipe.
“We are truly grateful to KWB for their swift response. Such proactive action is not only essential in restoring water services efficiently, but also crucial in minimising NRW, which is an issue that costs the State millions annually,” he said.
Kong added that the incident serves as a reminder of the power of collective action by the community.
“When the voices of the people are heard and acted upon, meaningful change happens. At times, members of the public may feel that their complaints fall on deaf ears,” he said.
He further reaffirmed his office’s commitment to serving as a bridge between the public and the authorities, ensuring that all concerns are heard and addressed. — DayakDaily
