DAP man: Inflation taskforce needs professionals, not ministers who failed to control inflation

Michael Kong

KUCHING, June 30: Appointing ministers who in the first place failed to control inflation, into the special ‘Jihad Tangani Inflasi’ taskforce will only make things worse, opines Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth (DAPSY) Kuching chief Michael Kong.

He said professionals must be included in the taskforce so that effective measures can be taken to actually tackle the recent inflation issue.

He pointed out that prices of goods including basic necessities have gone up by an average of 20 to 30 per cent over the past one year.

“The Prime Minister, (Dato Sri) Ismail Sabri (Yaakob), is able afford branded shirts worth thousands of ringgit.

“However, it should be noted that the average Ali, Muthu and Ah Hui in Malaysia find it difficult to even afford the daily necessities which just get more expensive by the day,” said Kong in a statement today.

Yesterday (June 29), Ismail Sabri said the special taskforce will be chaired by Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa, and will consist of Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali. — DayakDaily
