DAP Brolin urges for quick rollout of vaccines to registered Sarawakians

KUCHING, April 16: The Sarawak government has been urged to quickly roll out vaccines to eligible Sarawakians in light of the alarming spike in Covid-19 cases across the State.

Noting that Sarawak topped the daily cases in the country with 512 cases reported yesterday (April 15), Democratic Action Party (DAP) Serian chairman Brolin Nicholsion emphasised that it is time to provide the vaccines for those who have already registered.

“We really hope the government can get the people vaccinated and consider our suggestion as the people are afraid and tired,” he said in a statement today.

Even though the Movement Control Order (MCO) will not be enforced in Sarawak, Brolin however emphasised that the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) must put in place stringent measures and clear procedures to curb the spread of infections.

He thus urged the government to consider its suggestion to enforce stricter inter-district movement to control and minimise people from travelling for non-essential purposes.

“The government should consider our suggestion early this year on implementing inter-district movement control to allow only those who have business to cross the district.

“We believe this can help to reduce the infection probability from other districts,” he added.

Brolin, who is also special assistant to DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, also urged the government to provide clearer and easier to understand standard operating procedures (SOP) that are practical, workable and can be efficiently implemented.

“We are also hoping that the government can implement better policies to curb the virus and revive back our economy,” he added.

Aware that the government may not take the opposition views and suggestions seriously, Brolin however pressed that it is the party’s and every citizen’s responsibility to help and fight shoulder to shoulder with the government to curb the spread of the virus. — DayakDaily
