“Daddy Cool” hitmaker Boney M lands in Kuching for disco fever at BCCK

KUCHING, Jan 3: Iconic German disco group Boney M, led by original founding member Maizie Williams, lands at Kuching International Airport at around 9.30pm last night (Jan 2) for their highly anticipated 50th Anniversary Tour.

The band received a warm welcome from Front Row Entertainment Sdn Bhd (Front Row) director and organising chairman Zaid Zaini, Front Row managing director Ameerah Alsree, and members of the organising committee.

Boney M is set to kick off their golden annivesary tour with a performance at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) at 8pm tomorrow night (Jan 4), marking the tour’s first global stop.

Sarawak’s Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and his wife, Datin Sri Zuraini Abdul Jabbar, along with other distinguished guests from public organisations and private corporations, are expected to grace the concert.

Following their Kuching debut, Boney M will continue the tour with stops in Jakarta on Jan 10, Kuala Lumpur on Jan 12, and Singapore on Jan 15.

Seated tickets for the Kuching concert were completely sold out as of Jan 2, reflecting the enduring popularity of Boney M’s timeless hits.

Known worldwide for their unique fusion of pop, disco, and reggae, Boney M gained fame with chart-topping tracks like “Rasputin,” “Daddy Cool,” “Ma Baker,” and “Rivers of Babylon.”
