KUCHING, Aug 6: Edwin Francis from Kuala Lumpur who attended the recently-concluded Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2024, is bringing home a Mitsubishi Triton 4×4 VGT AT Premium worth RM137,900.
All he had to do was submit his RWMF 2024 e-ticket number during the festival, provide his personal details and answer two questions: identifying the festival’s anniversary year and explaining in 20 words why he liked the festival.
Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) chief executive officer Sharzede Salleh Askor said Edwin, who was attending RWMF for the first time ever, was among 500 shortlisted candidates.
“However, his statement truly and beautifully captured the spirit of the festival,” she said when speaking at the RWMF 2024 Skill Contest Prize Giving Ceremony held at Plaza Aurora here today.
Edwin’s winning slogan was: “I like the Rainforest World Music Festival because it’s a magical convergence of music, nature, and diversity, creating unforgettable experiences and connections.”
Meanwhile, Muhammad Farihiin Abdul Latif from Selangor, who is a returning festival-goer after 10 years, won the Ebixon Bold EV bike valued at RM12,000.
His slogan was: “I like the Rainforest World Music Festival because it unites diverse cultures, champions sustainability, and showcases mesmerizing global musical traditions in a captivating celebration.”
On behalf of STB, Sharzede extended heartfelt gratitude to the generous sponsors, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia and MyUS Autotech Sdn Bhd who made the contest possible.
Over 26,000 festival-goers from across the globe gathered at Sarawak Cultural Village from June 28 to 30, to experience the magic of RWMF.
This number represented a resounding 35 per cent increase compared to attendee numbers in 2023, highlighting the growing popularity and global reach of the festival.
At the same time, Sharzede revealed that next year’s RWMF will take place from June 20 to 22, with the theme “Connection”.
Also present were Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia senior vice president Sarah Choo and MyUS Autotech sales and operations manager Tracey Edwina Hughes. — DayakDaily
