KUALA KRAI: A family from Kampung Dusun Durian, Dabong near here were mourning the loss of a family member even as their fellow Muslims were fulfilling their Aidiladha duties last Friday, Sinar Harian reported yesterday.
The victim Kamarudin Mamat, 65, passed away while on the way to the Dabong Health Clinic after he was stomped on the chest by a cow. It is believed his death was caused by internal injuries.
His second eldest child, Siti Hajar Kamarudin, 36, said before the incident, he was healthy and ate the nasi bryani breakfast she had prepared after praying at a nearby mosque.
After praising her for the delicious meal, he went over to where the cow was tethered.
She said the deceased kept five cows and 10 goats, and the cow which was to be sacrificed that morning was quite fierce and could only be approached by the deceased.
Before the incident, the cow had escaped four times, so the rest of them had returned home about 100 metres away to watch the sacrifice after waiting for some time.
“Not long afterwards, he fell and was carried by people to the house,” she said.
Siti Hajar added that she and her husband together with her mother, Che Hasmah Abd Rahman, 59, rushed her father to the clinic to receive treatment.
On a related matter, she denied that photos and video purportedly of the incident going viral on social media involved her late father.
