Covid-19 update: Sarawak records eight new positive cases

KUCHING, March 22: Sarawak has recorded eight new novel coronavirus (Covid-19) positive cases.

This brings the total of recorded positive Covid-19 cases in the state to 76.

The State Disaster Management Committee in a media statement revealed seven of the new positive cases are from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and one from Miri Hospital.

At the same time, the committee noted that there were 44 person-under-investigation (PUI) cases, comprising 21 cases in Limbang Hospital, 18 at SGH, three in Bintulu and one each at the Sibu and Miri Hospitals.

Since early this year, Sarawak has recorded 795 PUI cases of which 709 had tested negative, 76 positive and 10 are awaiting laboratory test results.

The state has also recorded three fatalities with the first one on March 17.

Earlier, the State Disaster Management Committee ordered all hypermarkets, supermarkets, markets, coffee shops, private clinics, restaurants, 24-hour convenience stores and petrol stations to halt operations from 7pm to 7am daily.

It revealed that the order will take effect from March 24 until March 31. — DayakDaily
