Covid-19 update records three new fatalities, 2,068 new infections

KUCHING, Jan 1: Malaysia records three new deaths with 2,068 new Covid-19 cases today.

Ministry of Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham said Selangor continues to be the state with the highest number of daily cases which is 776 cases among others, with 425 cases resulting from close contact screenings in active clusters.


After Selangor, Kuala Lumpur reported a total of 457 cases, Sabah 254 cases, Penang 226 cases, Johor 112 cases, Kelantan 53 cases, Negeri Sembilan 51 cases, Perak 51 cases, Melaka 23 cases, Kedah 20 cases, Pahang 16 cases, Terengganu 14 cases, Sarawak eight cases, Putrajaya four cases and Labuan three cases.

With that, he summarised a cumulative number of 115,078 Covid-19 cases nationwide, with 23,433 active cases which are subjected to transmission.

There are 2,230 new recoveries and these patients have been discharged from hospitals, amounting to 91,171 cumulative number of recovery cases recorded.

He also noted 126 patients receving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 54 of them requiring breathing assistance.

With three new deaths seen today, the cumulative number of death cases due to Covid-19 nationwide now stands at 474 or 0.41 per cent of total cases.ā€”DayakDaily
