KUCHING, Apr 24: A total of 121 Covid-19 cases have recovered and been discharged while 88 new cases were reported as of 12 pm today, said Ministry of Health (MoH) director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Dr Noor Hisham in a press conference today said the ministry’s national Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) has also reported one death due to Covid-19 today, which brings the total number of fatalities to 96 cases.
According to him, the 96th death case, which is case number 2,978, involved a 61-year-old Malaysian male with a history of diabetes, kidney failure, including high blood pressure, and a history of close contact with Covid-19 case number 1,345, who has the history of returning from Indonesia.
“The deceased was treated in Sungai Buluh Hospital in Selangor on Mar 31, 2020 and was confirmed dead today (Apr 24, 2020) at 2.29 pm,” he said during the national daily briefing on the Covid-19 situation in the country this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham also noted that from the 88 cases recorded, 13 of the cases are imported cases involving those returning from other countries, while 75 other cases are locally spread.
Currently, he said, a total of 41 cases are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), whereby 18 of them require respiratory assistance.
“Apart from that, a total of 1,932 active cases are being isolated and treated in the hospitals,” he added.—DayakDaily.
