Covid-19: S’wak logs 270 new cases, two deaths in Epid Week 1 of 2023

KUCHING, Jan 9: Sarawak reported 270 new Covid-19 cases during Epid (Epidemiological) Week 1 of 2023, down from 330 cases reported during Epid Week 52, the final week of 2022.

According to a statement issued today by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), 260 cases were classified as Categories 1 and 2, while 10 were classified as Categories 3, 4, and 5.

This has brought the total cumulative number of cases reported in the State to 323,871.


By district, Kuching remained at the top with the most number of new cases at 99, followed by Sibu (28), Miri (25), Bintulu (23), Dalat (13), Samarahan (11), Sarikei (10), Serian (8), Bau (7), Mukah, Pakan, Kapit, and Siburan (5 each), Betong, Selangau, and Limbang (3 each), Lundu, Sri Aman, and Kabong (2 each), Subis, Lubok Antu, Simunjan, Matu, Sebauh, Tatau, Asajaya, Lawas, Tebedu, Kanowit, and Song (1 each).

Furthermore, two Covid-19 deaths were reported during Epid Week 1, one in Sarikei and the other in Sibu. — DayakDaily
