Covid-19: Simunjan back to green, Kuching improves to yellow

The list of districts categorised as Covid-19 red and orange zones as of Feb 9, 2021.

KUCHING, Feb 9: Simunjan District regained Covid-19 green zone status today after no local cases were reported in the past 14 days.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, revealed that Kuching District’s Covid-19 advisory status has improved to yellow from orange with 17 local cases reported over the past two weeks.

Kuching joined 15 other districts in the yellow zone with a total of 130 local cases reported in the past two weeks. They are Subis, Samarahan, Betong, Saratok, Sarikei, Daro, Sebauh, Lawas, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Pakan, Serian, Belaga, Meradong and Julau.

Nine districts namely Lundu, Beluru, Kapit, Song, Dalat, Bintulu, Kanowit, Miri and Sibu remained as high-risk red zones with a total of 1,863 local cases reported in the past 14 days.

The four districts of Selangau, Sri Aman, Matu and Bau retained orange zone status with 108 local cases reported in the last 14 days.

Of the 40 districts in Sarawak, 11 districts are categorised as Covid-19 green zones namely Simunjan, Lubok Antu, Telang Usan, Asajaya, Limbang, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Mukah, Pusa, Kabong and Marudi.

Meanwhile, Sarawak reported two Covid-19 fatalities and 111 new cases today with Sibu registering 54 cases, Bintulu (12), Dalat (7), Kanowit (6), Kapit (5), Beluru (2), Kuching (2) and one each in Lawas and Betong.

The state’s tally of positive cases now stands at 5,871. — DayakDaily
