Covid-19: Sarawak records 544 new cases and five fatalities

KUCHING, June 13: Sarawak registered 544 new Covid-19 cases and five fatalities today.

According to a report by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the fatalities included two people in their 30s and a 54-year-old woman in Telang Usan without comorbidities.

Five districts comprising Kuching, Bintulu, Sibu, Miri and Saratok contributed more than half of the new cases reported today.

Kuching reported the highest number of new cases with 85, followed by Bintulu with 77, Sibu (63), Miri (46), and Saratok (33).

Other districts which reported new cases include Mukah with 29, Sri Aman (27), Dalat (26), Sarikei (25), Song (19), Kanowit (16), Kapit (15), Bukit Mabong (14), Subis (12), Bau (10), Tatau (9), Asajaya (9), Serian (7), Lundu (5), Marudi (3), Telang Usan (2), Sebauh (2), Tebedu (2), Pakan (1), Tanjung Manis (1), Beluru (1), Lubok Antu (1), Selangau (1) and Matu (1).

Among the new cases reported were two imported cases from Indonesia.

With this, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak now stands at 55,443 cases.

The death toll due to Covid-19 has also increased to 351 persons.

Meanwihle, there were 871 Covid-19 patients reported recovered, bringing the number of recoveries to 45,591 persons or 82.23 per cent of the total coronavirus cases in Sarawak.

There are still 9,385 Covid-19 patients who are being treated at various health facilities and quarantine and low-risk treatment centres (PKRC) throughout the State.

Sarawak also recorded 544 new Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) cases, with awaiting Covid-19 swab test results.

No new Covid-19 clusters were reported today. Sarawak has a total of 82 clusters with 10 of them recording a total of 85 new cases today. — DayakDaily
