KUCHING, July 19: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has identified another new cluster involving a fishing vessel company at a jetty in Pending today.

SDMC noted the first case of this cluster (Case 584) was tested positive on July 15 while the second case was Case 603 today. Both are foreign workers working for the same company.

A total of 65 contacts of the patients were identified and, among them, 25 have been tested for Covid-19 whereby two were found positive and 23 negative. Another 21 have yet to take the tests because they are still out at sea.

So far the committee has identified seven active clusters in Sarawak, which are the construction site cluster, engineering company cluster, Mambong cluster, medical centre cluster, Jupiter cluster, Stutong market cluster and the new jetty cluster.

SDMC also announced that the Kidurong cluster has come to an end with the last Covid-19 positive case reported on July 6.

Close contacts involving 230 individuals including family members and colleagues were tested and eight of them or 3.48 per cent were found to be Covid-19 positive.

After zero cases reported from the cluster for 28 days, the Kidurong cluster was declared expired today. —DayakDaily
