Covid-19 : New Wisma Saberkas Cluster identified

KUCHING, Nov 2: The State Health Department has identified a new Covid-19 cluster known as the Wisma Saberkas Cluster today.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the cluster involved two business premises at Wisma Saberkas here with three new Covid-19 cases reported.


“The first case was identified when case 866 went for self Covid-19 swab test on October 26 due to fever and coughing.

“As a result, seven more cases were identified which involved the cluster.

“The patients are between 13 and 37 years old in which one case is a family member (to index case) and six are close contacts at workplace.

“This makes eight patients in total for this cluster including the index case,” he said during a press conference here today.

Uggah who is Deputy Chief Minister revealed that a total of 130 individuals have been swabbed for Covid-19 in which eight were tested positive, 10 were negative and 112 individuals were awaiting laboratory test results.

He disclosed that there were six Covid-19 clusters which were active in Sarawak.

They are the Putra Cluster in Bintulu, Bah Arnab Cluster, Baki Cluster, Seladah Cluster, Greenhill Cluster and the Wisma Saberkas Cluster in Kuching.

Out of the six active clusters of Covid-19 in Sarawak, Uggah who is Modernisation Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Minister said two clusters reported new cases which were the Greenhill Cluster and the Wisma Saberkas Cluster.

He said there were five new cases from the Greenhill Cluster and three new cases from the Wisma Saberkas Cluster today. — DayakDaily
