KUCHING, Oct 31: Sarawak saw a slight drop in Covid-19 cases in Categories 1 and 2 with 190 and 410 cases recorded respectively today, as the overall number of new daily infections decreased to 616.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said, for Categories 3, 4 and 5, a total of 16 cases were reported, whereby four Category 3 cases have lung infection, five Category 4 cases had lung infection and require oxygen, and seven Category 5 cases had lung infection and need ventilator support.
By district, Kuching recorded the highest number of cases today with 180 cases, followed by Miri with 151 cases, Sibu (70), Bintulu (39), Betong (23), Serian (22), Sarikei (14), Smiunjan (12), Mukah (11), and Bau (11).
Other districts which reported new cases today are Sri Aman (9), Subis (9), Dalat (8), Meradong (7), Samarahan (6), five cases each for Tanjung Manis, Matu, and Bukit Mabong, four cases each for Daro and Lundu, three cases each for Belaga, Pusa and Marudi, two cases each for Kapit, Song and Asajaya, and one case each for Pakan, Limbang, Kabong, Beluru, Selangau and Telang Usan, while eight other district namely Lawas, Saratok, Julau, Tebedu, Kanowit, Sebauh, Lubok Antu, and Tatau reported zero new cases.
As of today, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak since March 2020, stands at 241,046 cases.
Meanwhile, SDMC announced the end of the Sungai Ipoh Cluster in Pakan after zero new infections were recorded over the last 28 days.
The committee also said only one new infection was recorded involving the Putai Cluster 2, which is an active cluster.
With no new clusters recorded today, only 28 clusters are active in the State. — DayakDaily
