Covid-19: Jalan Hospital Cluster in Sri Aman sparks 17 cases; oil palm plantation in Subis with 15 cases

KUCHING, Aug 23: Patients and staff of a health facility in Jalan Hospital, Sri Aman have sparked a new workplace cluster named Jalan Hospital Cluster with 17 Covid-19 cases.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said a total of 217 individuals have been screened.


“Of the total, 17 people tested positive for Covid-19 including the index case, 196 were negative and four are awaiting test results,” the Committee said.

All positive cases from the cluster were admitted to Sri Aman Hospital and Sri Aman Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) for isolation and further treatment.

SDMC also reported another workplace cluster dubbed as Mas Sawai Cluster which was detected in an oil palm plantation that has been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in Subis.

A total of 295 individuals have been screened whereby 15 people tested positive for Covid-19 so far including the index case while 280 are still awaiting test results.

All positive cases from the cluster were referred and admitted to Miri Hospital and Miri Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) for isolation and further treatment. — DayakDaily
