Covid-19: Five more cases traced to Gelong Cluster

KUCHING, March 1: The Gelong Cluster in Kapit which stemmed from a funeral service reported the most number of new cases among clusters in the state today with five, according to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement.

With these new cases, the number of Covid-19 infections for the cluster has increased to 184.


A total of 231 individuals from the cluster have been screened for Covid-19 whereby 47 individuals tested negative and there are no test results pending.

As of today, Sarawak has 26 active Covid-19 clusters. Six clusters of them reported new cases, namely Gelong (Kapit), Sungai Bakong (Meradong), Jalan Muhibbah (Betong), Emperoh Jambu (Kuching), Jalan Green (Kuching) and Pasai (Sibu).

There were four new cases from the Sungai Bakong Cluster and three new cases from the Jalan Green Cluster.

The Jalan Muhibbah and Pasai clusters reported two cases each while the Emperoh Jambu cluster reported one new case.

Meanwhile, the State Health Department declared that the Bedayan Cluster in Serian had ended after no new Covid-19 cases emerged from the cluster in the past 28 days. — DayakDaily
