KUCHING, July 7: Two new Covid-19 clusters have been declared in Sarawak today, with one detected in Bau involving a construction site with 19 cases and the other detected in Kuching involving several families in Kampung Sungai Bedil Besar with 31 cases.
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily updates on Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, reported that the Jalan Tasik Biru By-Pass Cluster in Bau is a workplace cluster involving the workers of a food court construction site.
Of the 19 positive cases, 13 were foreigners and six were locals.
As of today, a total of 26 individuals have been screened whereby seven tested negative with no results are pending.
Meanwhile, the Sungai Bedil Besar Cluster in Kuching which is a community cluster involves several families in Kampung Sungai Bedil Besar.
A total of 94 individuals have been screened whereby 31 tested positive and 63, negative while no results are pending.
All 50 positive cases have been admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre Kuching for treatment and isolation.
The State Health Department also declared the end of Jalan Kampung Yoh Cluster in Bintulu after no new local cases were reported in the past 28 days.
With that, the number of active clusters in Sarawak now stood at 97, out of which nine clusters recorded an increase in daily infections with 50 more cases.
They are Lorong 3 Kampung Siol Kandis Cluster in Kuching which added 24 more cases, Jalan Tanjung Kidurong 3 Cluster in Bintulu (9 cases), Kilometre 85 Cluster in Mukah (5 cases), Po Ai Cluster in Sri Aman (3 cases) and Sungai Pelepak Cluster in Meradong (2 cases), while Sungai Bedil Besar Cluster in Kuching, Nyelutong Cluster in Betong and Kampung Serikin Cluster in Bau has one case each. ā DayakDaily
