14 Sarawakian supermarkets, departmental stores chip in to boost MPKS’s food pantry

KOTA SAMARAHAN, July 7: Six more supermarkets namely CS, Choice, Everwin, Teck Kong, BB and Everrise have pitched in for Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS)’s Kongsi Rezeki community pantry to help provide food to those in need during this trying times of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The community pantry organising chairman Dato Sim Kiang Chiok said CS Supermarket will be distributing food assistance at eight selected branches across Kuching starting at 3pm daily.

“With the latest support, we now have 14 supermarkets contributing and taking part in the community pantry programme,” he said in a statement today.

The existing supermarkets involved are Lepapa Hypermarket, Farley Supermarket, Emart Summer Mall, Unaco Kota Samarahan, H&L, Sen Sen Departmental Store, Elli and Aiman Mall.

“On behalf of MPKS and residents in Kota Samarahan, we would like to thank all our partners for helping the community in this challenging time,” he added.

Earlier, Sim and MPKS chairman Dato Peter Minos were at CS Mini Market distributing the food assistance to those in need.

Meanwhile, the community pantry programme, which started last Sunday (July 4) is expected to benefit more than 2,000 households in Kota Samarahan District throughout the programme that will run until July 12.

With over 300 food packs to be distributed daily, MPKS encouraged those in need to come forward at any of the locations at 3pm daily to bring home a food pack. — DayakDaily
