Covid-19 active case detection to be carried out in Taman Desa Ilmu, Taman Unigarden

KUCHING, April 26: The State Health Department through the Samarahan Division Health Office will conduct active case detection for Covid-19 in Taman Desa Ilmu and Taman Unigarden in Kota Samarahan on April 27 to April 30.

According to Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba in a statement today, the active case detection will be conducted via close cooperation with various government agencies such as Samarahan Resident Office, Royal Malaysia Police, People’s Volunteers Corp (Rela), Local Government and Housing Ministry, Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) and others.

He revealed that the active case detection in Kota Samarahan will involve 50 teams consisting of 100 members.


“The purpose of our (Health Ministry) visit to Kuching today is to survey the latest Covid-19 situation in Sarawak.

“We also want to ensure the State Health Department has carried out the preventive and control measures for Covid-19 in Sarawak.

“We (Health Ministry) would like to extend our appreciation to the state government through the State Disaster Management Committee which is active and directly involved in curbing the spread of Covid-19.

“The state government has provided a lot of contribution and support especially the supply of laboratory equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) to the medical frontliners in Sarawak,” he added.

Dr Adham added the State Health Department will continue to conduct Covid-19 preventive and control measures in Kuching and Kota Samarahan.

These include active case detection, identification of close contacts of positive Covid-19 patients, conduct Covid-19 fever triage tests, isolation of Covid-19 patients inside hospital wards, and placing of close contacts at quarantine centres which has been identified by the State Disaster Management Committee. — DayakDaily
