Covid-19: 1,937 new positive cases with 3 new clusters

KUCHING, Dec 12: A total of 1,937 new positive Covid-19 cases were recorded throughout the country today, with 13,751 cases still active.

Ministry of Health (MOH) director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said from the total number of new cases reported today, two are import cases while the rest are local transmissions, which brings the total number of positive Covid-19 cases nationwide to 82,246 cases.

“Selangor continues to report the highest number of new cases daily with 823 cases, followed by Sabah (429 cases), and Kuala Lumpur (238).


“Other states that also recorded new cases today are Johor (105 cases), Penang (102), Pahang (79), Perak (62), Negeri Sembilan (49), Kedah (16), Melaka (15), Labuan (11), Terengganu (six), Sarawak (one) and Kelantan (one), while Putrajaya and Perlis recorded zero new cases,” he said in a statement today.

Dr Noor Hisham also revealed that three new clusters were recorded today, namely the Bina Cendana construction site (11 cases) in Kuala Lumpur, the Dang Mutiara cluster (10 cases) in Selangor, and the Bukit Gemok cluster (10 cases) in Sabah.

At the same time, he noted, a total of 911 cases involving Covid-19 had recovered today, bringing the total cumulative number of recovered and discharged cases in the country to 68,084 cases (83.8 per cent).

“Currently, a total of 121 cases involving positive Covid-19 are being treated in the hospital intensive care unit (ICU), with 66 of them under respiratory assistance.

“We also regret to inform that nine death cases due to Covid-19 were recorded in four states today, which are in Penang (one), Johor (three), Selangor (one) and Sabah (four), involving seven Malaysians and two foreigners,” he added. — DayakDaily
